Kalamazoo Caring Network

Caring Network offers help and hope for pregnant and parenting women and their babies in the greater Kalamazoo area.

Case Management and Professional Counseling

Caring, compassionate and knowledgeable people help women explore their options, answer their questions and develop personalized plans for themselves and their babies. Emotional support and practical help are offerd to obtain prenatal care, receive information on proper nutrition, referrals to area services and more. Special services are available for teen moms and dads.

Caring Network Apartments

Four transitional living apartments are located across from the Van Domelen Center. These are available for pregnant homeless women who are participants in the Caring Network program. Occupancy is based upon availability and some elgibility requirements apply.

Mother-Friend Volunteers

New moms and pregnant women receive one to one emotional support, friendship and mentoring from mature women who have experienced pregnancy. Billingual services are available.

Pregnancy and Parenting Classes and Support Groups

Classes and small groups are offered to women and their partners to help prepare them to meet the challenges of parenting and to build friendships with other parents. Check the web site for a current schedule of classes or call 269-381-1234 for more information.

Postpartum Depression Support Services

Postpartum depression affects up to 20% of new mothers. Caring Network offers support services including screening, individual psychotherapy, problem solving and referrals for postpartum mothers. Call Caring Network Bridges at 269-381-9800 for an appointment.

Adoption Services

For women who aren't sure if parenting is the best choice, adoption options can be discussed with an adoption counselor.

Maternity and Baby Needs

Resources are available for Caring Network clients, including maternity clothes, baby clothes, blankets, furniture and toys.

The Warm Line

24 hour, 7 day a week telephone line offers emotional support and practical assistance by trained volunteers. Call (269) 381-1234 any time for help!

"Read Me A Story" Family Literacy Program

Caring Network offers reading groups, parent support groups, field trips and a lending library full of wonderful books to encourage women to spend more time reading to their children. Staff members help parents discover the joys and rewards that reading can offer.

How Can You Help?

Volunteer - You can be a resource room helper, a Mother-Friend mentor, a Warm Line volunteer or help out with special projects.

In-Kind Donations - You can donate up-to-date maternity clothes, diapers, onesies, newborn baby clothes, reciving blankets, cribs and many more items for moms and their babies.

Financial Gifts - Always needed and always very much appreciated.

Berrien County Caring Network

The Teen Parenting Program provides services to any teen in Berrien County who is under the age of 21 and pregnant or parenting.

This program assists women with identifying alternatives to abortion through options counseling and assistance with adoption.

The program provides case management services to both mothers and fathers.

Mothers are assisted with maintaining regular attendance at pre-natal appointments, education on parenting and child development issues, support to continue towards educational goals and referrals to community resources.

The Fatherhood program encourages teen fathers to have an active role in the life of their child. This program assists fathers with navigating the Friend of the Court system, learning about their rights and responsibilities, basic parenting information and support to complete their educational goals and become gainfully employed.
