8 Year Old Donates Birthday Presents to The Ark
Andrew Burke, who attends St. Margaret's School in Otsego, celebrated his 8th birthday on March 27. Instead of collecting presents for himself, he asked his friends to bring gifts to donate to the youth who stay at The Ark shelter in Kalamazoo. In early May, he and his mother brought the bags full of gifts to the shelter and presented them to Timothy Williams, Ark supervisor. The bags were overflowing with games, puzzles, stuffed animals, journals, pens and markers and personal care items. When asked why he chose to do this, he replied, "It feels good when I give to others." On behalf of the youth who stay at the shelter, thank you to Andrew and to all his friends for their generosity.
